As we all have heard recently state parks all over the country are under extreme pressure due to budget cuts. Many park systems have been trying valiantly to do more with less, but unfortunately many are facing the reality of having to close parks. With visitation at record highs and budgets at record lows, they are trying to keep our public spaces accessible and provide quality outdoor recreation opportunities for all.
Some park systems are trying to get creative and look at new ways to keep parks open while also providing a quality experience for their visitors. A recent article in the LA Times talks about how California is trying new ways to help their parks through private-public partnerships. Companies are stepping up to protect our parks! Let’s hope that this trend continues so we don’t have to watch our parks close.
