In early August, ParkVisitor.com headed to Salt Lake City, Utah to attend the premier trade show for the outdoor industry, Outdoor Retailer! We got to check out all of the new outdoor gear lineups for a ton of different companies that will be rolled out in 2013. Since our theme for August is “Beating the Heat”, we brought to you the insider scoop on four of the “coolest” products from OR. These are only a snippet of what’s to come in our new-and-improved, exclusive gear reviews!
1) Yurbuds – With their slogan “Developed by Athletes for Athletes,” these stylish new headphones are ideal for any type of outdoorsman. Yurbuds are designed to stay in place no matter your exercise intensity, thanks to their new TwistLock technology (which works exactly as it sounds). It’s no wonder Men’s Fitness called Yurbuds “gym bag essentials,” and we completely agree: These are one of our favorite ways to power yourself through any outdoor adventure, or just to enjoy music with great quality sound.
2) Spenco Flip Flops – Summer is synonymous with sandals, and everyone is searching for the perfect pair, but the top complaint is that they aren’t as comfortable or functional as regular shoes. That’s where Spenco comes in. The PolySorbÒ Total Support Sandals are state-of-the-art, combining the chic look of a flip flop with the feel of a comfy shoe. The flip flops have both arch and heel support, something that can keep your feet feeling good after any workout or adventure. One of our staff wore them for the full 2 days walking the trade show and loved them!
3) Magellan’s Switch Series – Most outdoorsy people aren’t just doing one thing; they’re running, hiking, biking, back country skiing, etc. Those folks can say hi to the Switch Series, a set of fitness devices for the multi-talented explorer. With Magellan’s new line of GPS-enabled fitness devices, you can mark locations, goals, distances and speed of any type of workout to keep you on track. The best part, however, is the Activity Pacer, which allows you to not only keep track of your target in real-time, but also gives you instructions on how to keep on pace if you’re struggling.
4) Jackson Kayak’s Big Tuna – What’s better than a serene day of fishing? How about doing it in style? Thanks to the Big Tuna, your dreams can come true. Jackson Kayak’s new fishing vessel has FaceTime seating, which allows the two paddlers to face each other for a personal feel. Combine that with the boat’s best feature, the Tuna Tank, which is a bait/live well the requires no electronics or plumbing, keeping your catch alive and fresh with the water beneath the boat, and you can paddle all day! And if you aren’t concerned about that, it makes an awesome cooler for drinks.
